Why is there something rather nothing? How come the universe exists? We does the earth exist? Why are we here? Again, why is there something rather than nothing? This is a question people have been trying to answer for thousands of years. Many today would suggest that the universe is just a brute fact. But a many others suggests it's here because it was intelligently designed. Over the course of three blogs, we'll look at cosmology, the detection  of design, and teleology. Let's begin with cosmology. The first argument for intelligent design is the cosmological argument. Simply put, the cosmological argument is the argument for causation. Professor and apologist, William Lane Craig has championed this defense in three parts: “Whatever begins to exist has a cause. The universe began to exist. Who made God? This is very common and good question. I think we all have asked it one form or another. I think it is important to look at the words of God, "' You are My witnesses,” declares the Lord , “And My servant whom I have chosen, so that you may know and believe Me and understand that I am He. Before Me there was no God formed, and there will be none after Me " (Isaiah 43:10 NASB). Unlike the universe, which most in modern science agrees had a beginning, God is infinite and therefore eternal.  God is therefore the logical and only uncaused first cause. To assume that because the universe had a first cause, the cause of the universe must have had a first cause is illogical. It will always go to the question "and what caused that cause?"
