Well, How About That – The Sea of Galilee Did you know that the area surrounding the Sea of Galilee contained more miracles of Jesus’ ministry than any other place?  The Sea of Galilee is 7 miles wide by 13 miles long. It was here that Jesus called the first disciples in Matthew 4:18-22 “ Now as Jesus was walking by the Sea of Galilee, He saw two brothers, Simon who was called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea; for they were fishermen.   And He said to them, “Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men.” Immediately they left their nets and followed Him.   Going on from there He saw two other brothers,   James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother, in the boat with Zebedee their father, mending their nets; and He called them.   Immediately they left the boat and their father, and followed Him. ” Here Jesus gave his Sermon on the Mount. At the Sea of Galilee, Jesus fed the 5,000 with two fish and five loaves of bread....

The Jordan River Did you know the distance between the Sea of Galilee and the Dead Sea measures only 65 miles?  However the winding Jordan River encompasses over 125 miles from the Sea of Galilee south to the Dead Sea. The Dead Sea is 1,300 feet below sea level. It was in the Jordan River that Jesus was baptized in Matthew 3:13-17 " Then Jesus arrived from Galilee at the Jordan coming to John, to be baptized by him. But John tried to prevent Him, saying, 'I have need to be baptized by You, and do You come to me?' But Jesus answering said to him, 'Permit it at this time; for in this way it is fitting for us to fulfill all righteousness.' Then he permitted Him. After being baptized, Jesus came up immediately from the water; and behold, the heavens were opened, and he saw the Spirit of God descending as a dove and lighting on Him, and behold, a voice out of the heavens said, 'This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well-pleased.'” The name ...
